Victorian racing heads to the Gippsland region today, where eight races will be run and won at Moe.

A warm 33 degrees is forecast, which will ensure a dry racing surface.

The rail is out 5m the entire circuit and at this set-up, the track should play fair and give all horses their chance.

Moe Race 2 Tip #2 Bixilon $5.50

I'm keen on the chances of the Levi Kavanagh trained colt here, who drops back sharply in grade from black type grade to a maiden after failing to fire down the Flemington straight on Melbourne Cup Day.

The stable has a good opinion of this galloper and were confident in his condition leading into his first-up run. All indications are that he has taken plenty of benefit from that effort.

Now second-up and rising to 1200m with the blinkers applied, expect him to improve significantly in this run and he retains the services of Damien Lane which is another positive sign.

The only knock is the wide draw, but expect Lane to settle towards the rear with cover and produce down the outside.

Look for him to flash home and break his maiden status in style.

Moe Race 3 Tip #9 American Saint $3.40

Since the scratching of Sugartown, I’ve gone all in on this lightly raced filly out of Americain.

She presents first-up off the back of a strong Mornington jump out that saw her lead and win well.

Her debut campaign saw her finish runner-up to Group 2 Blue Diamond Prelude winner, Letzbeglam. That horse went on to finish sixth in the Blue Diamond, beaten only 2.6 lengths as second favourite.

While the filly finished outside the placings in her next run at Pakenham, the first place finisher Drone Strike went on to run behind multiple Group 3 winner Holyfield in a black type affair at Sandown.

She’s drawn in barrier 8 of 10 here but in a race that lacks genuine speed, she’ll be able to work across to either lead or box seat.

If she’s improved the slightest on what we saw from her first two career starts, I expect her to be winning.
