Post carnival plunges

Following a busy Melbourne carnival, punters have remained active in early betting markets this week.

We had a huge result for our market movers followers last Saturday, with no fewer than 4 of the 7 selections which jumped saluting. This included “The Hunter” winner Savatiano, and punters who backed each tip at the time of publication yielded a tidy 123% profit on turnover.

We look forward to continuing the success this week with the below selections at key venues Ballarat and Kembla Grange.

Ballarat

Ballarat Tips

Persuader

Looks to have returned in excellent order after braining them all by 3 lengths at Kyneton last start.

She drops back in grade here and will be asked to carry more weight (60.5kg), which looks deserved based on the recent effort.

The apprentice claim of 2kg will help and they should receive a dream run from barrier 4. Yes.

Defibrillate

Is from the very shrewd Patrick Payne yard and is unbeaten this prep, with four wins on-the-bounce.

This jockey/trainer combination has been dominating everything around provincial Victoria in recent times, and look a good chance to continue that trend here.

He will get back in the field before unleashing hell late. Could start shorter.

Zorro’s Dream

Has been well supported in betting at both career starts, where he won the most recent at Kyneton.

Ben Melham goes on which is a plus and provides a strong signal that the stable are serious here.

Just needs a touch of luck from the outside draw and if gets it, will be hard to hold out.

Bumper Blast

Won the “Greys” race at Flemington over the carnival, when heavily backed late from $3.20 to $2.90.

The horse is lightly raced (3:2-0-0) and is likely to have much more upside than others in this field.

Craig Williams sticks and you can trust him to get the job done again.

Kembla Grange

Kembla Grange Tips

Gresham

Has a touch of quality and second-up here suits well (4:1-1-2).

Bowman can position anywhere he chooses from the good draw in barrier 4 and you can expect him to tuck in behind the leading pair.

He has genuine speed map favours and is ready to run a peak performance this time in. Suited.

Quackerjack

Won the Goulburn Cup with ease last start after attracting good support in betting, coming into $2.70 late from $3.30 openers.

He comes up with a tough draw in barrier 14, but certainly has the tactical speed to overcome this hurdle.

I doubt they will press on for the lead on this occasion, however he can find cover in the moving line and still be very hard to hold out. No weight.

Seasons

Returns following a long layoff of 49 weeks and did show above average ability last prep.

The recent trial will have her ready and the stable rarely miss when they bet.

This race does not look overly strong and you can expect her to fight out the finish. Yes.

Trumbull

Chased hard at Rosehill last start when finishing a close up 3 of 11 in similar grade.

They have found James McDonald to ride here and he would have taken his pick of a few entered in this.

Rock hard fit now and they'll likely race more forward from the good draw and be too strong late.

We've listed all the professional punters and media tipsters who have posted tips at Ascot on one page, with each showing validated profit statistics.
