The Zipping Classic has attracted a broad group of staying profiles from a variety of major and minor cup form-lines.

The Melbourne Cup runner is sure to create interest however he may not have it all his own way, with country cup form proving strong this year.

I am with one who targeted this race last year and returns again, in good form and with a sense of timing.

Race Track Sandown Hillside Track Traits

The Sandown Hillside surface is currently rated a Good 4, with the rail in the True position for the entire circuit. Fine conditions are predicted in Melbourne on Saturday.

With the rail in the True, expect the surface to race fair.

As always, a close watch is advised early to determine any fast lanes or bias.

Market Movers Racing Market Movers

Miss Siska is the market mover in early betting and after opening at $20, has been backed into $11.

Race favourite Southern France is slightly easy, out to $3.70 from $3.60 openers.

Horse Racing Key Runners

#1 Humidor $3.90

Has been well fancied by several pro punters all throughout this preparation, however he is yet to deliver a win.

This looks a much easier assignment than last start when he finished midfield (9 of 16) in the Mackinnon Stakes, and he should appreciate the class relief.

A win would certainly not surprise, although at $3.90 he appears well found and overbet. Prefer others.

Humidor

#2 Ventura Storm $7.50

Had genuine excuses at Flemington last start, when he finished midfield (4 of 11) in the Queen Elizabeth and was only beaten 2.5 lengths.

He was heavily backed from $6 into $4.80 before running well in this race last year, hence there could be a sense of timing here.

I suspect that he is very well suited from gate 2 and I want to be with him. Top hope.

#3 Gallic Chieftain $8.00

Was given no hope at Flemington last start, after being trapped three-wide with no cover throughout in the Queen Elizabeth.

Go back three starts and he was unlucky not to have won the Group 1 Metropolitan at Randwick.

The last start effort was brave considering the torrid run, and it would not surprise to see him winning this. Leading chance.

Gallic Chieftan

#4 Patrick Erin $17

Finished last (10 of 10) in the Hotham Handicap at his most recent outing, where he was caught wide and looked to be unsuited by the race tempo.

His sectionals were good at Randwick two starts back over 2600m and I can't completely rule him out. Prefer others.

#5 Southern France $3.60 > $3.70

Was unsuited in the Melbourne Cup where they crawled and he needed to be running on, off a hot tempo.

He should benefit from a more genuine speed here and could find a position much closer if they choose.

Looks to have a touch of quality and is a must include in everything. Yes.

#6 Dal Harrailed $10

Comes via the Geelong Cup, where he finished towards the back after a luckless run.

The form out of that race has been enormous, with Prince Of Arran finishing third in the Melbourne Cup and True Self saluting on Stakes Day.

He's yet to win on Australian soil, however he does enjoy this distance (10:2-2-2).

I would love to see a strong late push in betting to suggest he has come through the Geelong Cup run well.

#7 Midterm $19

Won the Kyneton Cup, before running well (6 of 11) last start behind a good one in the Queen Elizabeth at Flemington.

This horse has recaptured some form and if they can overcome the tricky draw in gate 10, expect him to be a genuine hope.

Could be the value.

#8 Chapada $11

Comes via the Rosehill Gold Cup, where he was well beaten by the likes of Tally and Another Dollar.

Lightly raced and has more upside than most, however I simply could not have him on recent form. No.

#9 Savvy Oak $11

Won at big odds last start at Flemington in much weaker grade (Benchmark 90).

Expect him to be completely outclassed in this. No.

#10 Miss Siska $20 > $11

Has good restricted mares grade form, however it's a big ask now being back against the boys in a hot race. No.

Of The Others

None Preferred.
