Rosehill Tips: Best Bets at Rosehill 3 November 2018

Tagged: Rosehill Racing

Finding value at The Gardens

With Flemington and Derby Day firmly in the spotlight this week, Rosehill has been left with moderate class of thoroughbreds going around.

However, this meeting still creates plenty of betting interest, with punters very active in early betting markets.

The Good 4 surface at Rosehill will race fair with the rail in the true position, and punters should be able to bet with confidence throughout the day.

Race 6 BM78 Handicap 1300m

There will be early speed here from Conarchie (1), who is drawn the rail and will punch up to lead.

Kopite (12) can cruise across from the widest barrier to sit outside Coanrchie, with Mapmaker (3) and Disgraceful (8) likely to roll forward and position behind the leaders to ensure the race is run at a strong tempo.

Muraahib (4) and Schubert (5), who are drawn side by side, will both be afforded the gun run behind the speed.

Schubert was extremely unlucky first-up and then ran on well against a leader bias last start. He maps perfectly here, and you'd expect the calm head of Josh Parr to get the job done this time around.

Muraahib is a clear danger, and he'll likely be third back the fence with the top pick to his outside, and with even luck in running, he will be fighting out the finish.

Mapmaker is better suited back over the 1300m and will improve significantly on top of the ground and can easily fill a place.

Chalmers is a talented galloper who is building an impressive record. He's yet to secure a first-up win, however if they run this at a breakneck speed he can fly at them late.

1st  Schubert

2nd  Muraahib

3rd  Mapmaker

4th  Chalmers

Race 7 BM88 Handicap 1200m

There will only be moderate early speed in this race, with the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Hussterical (2) likely to amble across to the rail and lead, and Test The World (8) to sit just off her in the run.

Dawn Dawn (6) settled well back last start after drawing wide in barrier 15 at Caulfield. Drawn well in barrier six this time around, you'd expect her to take a more forward position in the run and sit just behind the leaders, with Leami Astray (4) likely to position on the rails just behind Hussterical.

Our Malambo (7) and the short-priced favourite Newsfan (5), look likely to sit mid-field and will both need to navigate through plenty of traffic on turning for home.

Dawn Dawn has an solid record over the 1200m and has won at the track and distance. Her last start effort at Caulfield was impressive, finishing 1.95lengths off the eventual winner. There is no doubt she was hampered by the poor draw on that occasion.

She drops 1.5kg and goes down in grade and more importantly has drawn a barrier which will allow her to push more forward in the run.

Hussterical should get every chance in the lead and has performed well when first-up. She'll be no match for the top selection but will certainly prove a challenge for the rest of the field to get past.

Test The World has been competitive in Group 3 company and saves her best for her second-up efforts, where she is two wins and two places from four starts. The top-weight of 60.5kg is a genuine concern, given the most she's carried to victory is 57.5kg in a Class 1 at Gosford.

Our Malambo is well in with the 2kg claim for apprentice Sam Weatherly, but is one-paced and will plug away down the straight.

1st  Dawn Dawn

2nd  Hussterical

3rd  Test The World

4th  Our Malambo

Race 8 BM 88 1200m

Cradle Mountain (5) will head to lead them up here but won't get it all his way, with Isorich (10) and Isurian (11) likely to push forward from the wide gates.

If the three nominated leaders go hard early, you can expect Star of Monsoon (8)Passage of Time (9) and Blue Tycoon (12) to all push forward and slot in behind the leading group.

If the leaders don't go hard, the jockeys of the above runners will be forced to restrain their mounts to find cover or be forced to travel three and four wide throughout the run.

Maximus (2) and Royal Tudor (4) have both drawn perfectly. Expect them to receive cozy runs just in behind the pace given the early speed in the race.

Maximus was unsuited on the Soft 7 last start and gets his chance to get another win back on a dry surface. The son of Artie Schiller has won five from nine on a Good surface, three from seven over the 1200m, and is a great betting prospect at the $8 fixed odds.

Royal Tudor loves the Rosehill track and has a solid first-up record. With the gun run expect him to be there when the whips are cracking.

Lord Von Costa impressed last start when he flew home in the Listed Village Stakes at Caulfield. Apprentice Blaike Mcdougall takes the ride and claims 2kg. Watch for the son of Von Costa de Hero to settle beyond mid-field and charge at them late.

Race favourite Cradle Mountain has plenty of ability but is returning to the track first-up after being found lame. He looks vulnerable stepping up in grade and is hard to charge into at the $2.50 quote.

2nd  Royal Tudor

3rd  Lord Von Costa

4th  Cradle Mountain

Race 9 BM88 Handicap 1100m

Don't Give a Damn (9) and Manhattan Mist (2) will push forward and control the tempo. Mahalangur (10) will look to cross the field and take a sit just behind the leaders, with Merovee (4) pushing up underneath him.

There looks to be moderate tempo engaged which will make it difficult for the well-favoured back-marker Fierce Impact (3) to make an impression on the race.

Don't Give a Damn gets back to a dry surface which is a huge plus, given he has won four from seven on a Good track. If jockey Adam Hyeronimus can carve out some steady sectionals in front, he'll prove hard to run down.

Manhattan Mist will be looking to improve on an already impressive record. Jockey Josh Parr will rate him perfectly to ensure he's fighting out the finish, with the only query being the rise in class.

Merovee returns to his home track and more importantly gets back onto a dry surface after struggling on the Soft 7 at Randwick last start. Carrying only 53kg from the soft draw is a huge plus and you'd expect him to be competitive.

Mahalangur is looking to make it three on-the-trot but does meet tougher opposition here. From the wide gate, the team Hawkes trained galloper will have to do more work here than his past two runs, and this extra effort is likely to take its toll late.
