Hawkesbury Race 1 Tip #2 Quality Approach $2.30

This gelding from the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable ran a solid 2.4 lengths sixth behind some talented gallopers at his last start. 

Dropping in grade from a BM70 to a BM64 sees him go up in weight, but he does gain the services of Brenton Avdulla. 

Expect Avdulla to ride positively in the small field and hold the fence or sit behind the heels of the second favourite Hostwin Epanoui, who led over 1600m last start. 

Quality Approach looks to be the class horse of this field and should prove far too strong for his rivals in the opening race of the day. 

 

Hawkesbury Race 4 Tip #5 Gallina $3.90

The China Horse Club owned filly by Smart Missile has let the punters down at her previous seven attempts, but looks set to break her maiden here. 

Her last start was an impressive third to Ragazee, where she flew down the outside off an unsuitable tempo to close within 2.4 lengths of the winner. 

In a big push for the filly's chances, Corey Brown is booked to ride.

Drawn barrier seven with speed on the inside, there will be an opportunity for Brown to tag those runners across and find a more forward position.

If he can manage that, it will be lights out for the other runners. 

The worst case scenario is if the filly shows no early speed and sits near last in a small field.

She has the best finishing burst amongst this lot and if she's within four lengths of the leaders at the turn, expect her to win.

Free racing tips from Ben Beare

Hawkesbury Race 7 Tip #8 Ivy's Court $6.00

This former Kiwi from the Chris Waller stable trialled impressively behind Mister Sea Wolf at Warwick Farm before her Australian debut. 

She ran up to that trial, finishing third over 1400m and would have taken plenty of benefit from the run.

The mare by Choisir has won twice over 1600m and has won second-up over the distance in New Zealand.

Drawn barrier five, expect jockey Tommy Berry to find a mid-field position before flying over the top of them late.
