Sandown Hillside was rated a Good 3 this morning. Weather is overcast with
some light rain expected but nothing significant to change the track condition
too much.
Race 7 on the card is the Sandown Guineas. A Group 2 race
run over the mile for three-year-olds. This distance gives runners every chance
to settle with about 500m to the first turn.
Favourite early Saturday morning is Don't Doubt Mamma. Beat
Sacred Eye over 1400m before a fair effort over 1600m for the first time in
the Edward Manifold. Fair to put a little question mark over the distance with
no apparent excuses in that run but she's going well enough to win this.

Mahuta comes off three wins in-a-row including a tough fought
run over 1600m in the Group 3 Carbine Club. A bit of speed inside him when he
jumps which could see him work early. Good winning chance.
Ngarimu has his third career start here. Two runs have been
good although looks like he is learning each time. Rises from 1400m last start
where he finished 2.2 lengths behind Palentino. Likely to be competitive and
worth watching market moves.
Dal Cielo is mixing his distances a bit. Back to 1600m after
a reasonable effort in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud over 1200m. Over raced in the
Caulfield Guineas over the mile. Needs to settle well here from a wide barrier
to be any chance.
Demonstrate is having his third run after a few months lay-off.
Looks like he wants this distance after finishing second behind Palentino last
Saturday over 1400m. Might prefer it soft which he won't get today but still
has strong claims.
Patch Adams ran a close second behind Mahuta in the Carbine
Club last start and three starts back finished a solid 2.6 lengths behind Edward
Manifold winner Badawiya carrying 61kg. Looks ready for this one.
Zafiki was an easy winner at her first career start in a
Cranbourne maiden over the mile. Will be an improver and worth watching market
moves for her.
Of the others I really like the Maysam at quotes of $21 as
I type. She won a Benalla maiden two starts back and then went on to finish
3.5 lengths behind Don't Doubt Mamma in the Lexus Hybrid (Listed) over 1400m coming from
the rear of the field. Looks like further will suit her.
1st Patch Adams. Really like his chances and looks
great value at current quotes of $10 after coming in two points already.
2nd Mahuta
3rd Maysam
