After two big race meetings at Sha Tin, it’s time to go back to the city circuit at Happy Valley.

There will be 8 races on the “C” course on Wednesday, a track which typically favours front-runners.

The feature race will come in Race 8, when ex-Australian galloper Californiadeepshot will attempt to chase his second win in Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, another ex-Australian galloper Circuit Seven (previously named Nitrous) will make his Hong Kong debut in Race 6.

Fine weather is forecast on Wednesday and you can expect to be racing on a good to firm surface.

Apprentice Jerry Chau, Chad Schofield, Matthew Chadwick and Vincent Ho are all suspended for this meeting.

Happy Valley Race 4 Tip #4 Jazz Steed $4.80

Jazz Steed has had three starts over 1200m this season and has only scored one win to the disappointment of connections, who had high hopes for the galloper this campaign.

He broke his maiden last season with ease over the 1000m distance and looks well suited dropping back in trip.

With Chad Schofield being suspended, Matthew Poon (Poon Train) will be on board and knows how to ride backmarkers better than most.

This is not a strong field and you can expect Jazz Steed to show a good turn of foot and prove too strong.

Happy Valley Race 8 Tip #1 Californiadeepshot $4.00

Californiadeepshot was a debut winner in Hong Kong last season.

His rating increased off that victory, forcing him to carry top weight for most of his runs.

Apprentice Alfred Chan takes the reigns on the horse for the first time on Wednesday and gets a 7 pound allowance, which a welcomed relief.

He was gelded during the summer and looks to have returned with more maturity this time in.

His last start fourth from a wider barrier suggested that he's set to return to winning form and with the 57.5kg tonight, he can win again.
