We're heading to the city of Wollongong on Thursday, where Kembla Grange dishes up a challenging card for punters.

The track is currently rated a Good 4 and fine is weather forecast for the southern NSW region.

The rail is in the 3m position from the 1100m to the winning post and true for the remainder of the circuit.

This set-up will favour those horses on-pace throughout.

From the stewards

The horse that's worth following from the pre-steward's report is Mission Legend, who lines up in race 2.

There are no prizes for finding this Reward For Effort gelding, but he did have an excuse first-up at Newcastle.

Over the 900m scamper, he made contact with another runner at the start and was slow to begin.

This is something you can't afford to do over the short distance and to make matters worse, he went down by a narrow 0.2 lengths.

For this clash, the gelding gets a 3kg claim, a good draw and an extra 100m.

Expect a much improved run and for him to break his maiden status in style.

Kembla Grange Race 5 Tip #2 Nyami $2.50

This Charm Spirit gelding looks slightly over the odds as a favourite and looks set to make it two on-the-trot.

He was well ridden by James McDonald at Wyong, where he balanced up around the turn before kicking away for a 1.5 length win.

In what was an impressive display, he was first-up after almost a year at 1350m and he looked like he could have run further.

Based on that effort, the step-up to a mile here looks ideal second-up and the addition of Tommy Berry is a massive tick. Berry has a 32% win strike rate at Kembla Grange.

The gelding will be fitter for the first-up run and the ideal draw will help find a great position to settle.

With very little speed in this race and an ideal barrier, expect Berry to stroll forward leisurely and settle on-speed.

He looks hard to beat and I'm expecting him to start below $2.00.
