5/10/19 Randwick best bets and tips

Best bets for Epsom Day
AAPRacing returns to Sydney headquarters this Saturday, for the running of three Group One events.
A full field of 20 runners have accepted for the Epsom Handicap over the famous mile course, while the Metropolitan will see 17 thoroughbreds walk up to the barriers.
In stark contrast, the Flight Stakes will feature an alarmingly thin field with only 6 runners engaged.
With warm weather forecast in Sydney, the track is likely to start a Good 4 and looks certain to be upgraded to a Good 3 mid-meeting.
The rail is out 3m the entire circuit. At this set-up, punters should expect race tempo to play a part in any perceived bias, with on-pace runners favoured by the dry track.
We've identified two races where the top picks look set to receive a soft on-pace run from a good draw. The speed maps and track set-up fit their preferred racing patterns perfectly.

Royal Randwick Race 4 Tip #1 Funstar $2.00
This girl by Cox Plate winner Adelaide did plenty wrong last start in the Tea Rose Stakes, but still impressed punters with a narrow win.
Over-racing in a stop-start affair, jockey James McDonald was impressed with her willingness to battle on after going toe-to-toe with Libertini and holding off a fast finishing Probabeel. In a post-race interview, the gun rider suggested that she'd be much better suited over the mile.
In a small field of six with limited speed engaged, she looks set to get an uncontested lead. From there, McDonald will be able to dictate terms to his rivals and control the tempo of the race.
Once again the filly squares off against rival Probabeel, who looks likely to settle at the rear and three lengths off the lead. From this position, she will face an uphill battle to chase down this talented galloper.
Royal Randwick Race 8 Tip #13 Hush Writer $10.00
This former Japanese galloper has turned the corner this preparation, after finally acclimatising to Australian racing.
Sitting on-speed last start, jockey Tim Clark pulled wide on the turn before showing a strong sustained sprint to win the Group Three Newcastle Cup.
Jumping from barrier seven here, look for Clark to follow stablemate and nominated leader Stampede (8) across to receive a soft run in transit.
He's proven over 2400m and will take huge benefit from his impressive last start win.
With only 52.5kg on his back and an in-form Clark retaining the ride, he'll prove awfully hard to run down.
