As the big Spring features loom, professional punters continue to warm up. They have again shown their hand in early betting this week, by targeting a number of runners that were mispriced by bookies early.
Last week we started with a bang when Mickey Blue Eyes saluted at Randwick paying punters nice odds of $5.50. We look to continue to provide winners this week, with a select number of market movers below at both key venues.
Randwick Market Movers
Has a huge SP profile where she is often the focus of a sustained move in betting. That has occurred again here and the money looks spot on for a horse coming straight out of the Group 1 Tatts Tiara last start, back to a handicap.
Has a class edge and will bounce straight to the front and be very hard to run down. Can pinch it.
Instant De Reve
From the powerful OTI syndicate who place their horses well.
He was good here last start over this distance (1600m) when finishing 6 of 12 and only 2.2 lengths from the winner.
Has tactical speed and can choose to race where he likes with the outside draws possibly favoured if rain continues. Plenty of ticks and the price still appears value. Yes.
Is a high profile James Harron selection who they are desperate to get to stud and have been entering in all the 'Stallion making' features at his past few outings.
He hasn’t measured up to that grade yet, however drops way down in class from Group 1 level to benchmark 78 grade here. That could be telling and it would not surprise to see him blow them away at this lowly level.
Support in betting is clearly warranted.
Flemington Market Movers
The money trail carries extra weight in early 2yo races where the form is less exposed. That is the case here and although the Cranbourne trial is public, this colt must be showing a lot more behind closed doors to justify the heavy support in betting.
The stable love to set one up for a bet and the key booking of Craig Williams shows they are serious.
Should just win.
Interesting runner, who they have chosen to travel from Sydney first-up here. Suspect that means they have bigger Melbourne plans this Spring which indicates he has come back well.
The stable don’t make the effort to travel often and this smells of a set up. Watch for further support in betting late and bet accordingly.
Team Williams comes to life at this time of year and they have already got under the punters guard, with the smart Homesman winning the Underwood last week.
They took this gelding to Sydney for The Metrop at Group 1 level last start hence the opinion would be huge. Money looks lethal when associated with any horse from this stable. Follow.
