Following the big meeting at Sha Tin last Sunday, we have 9 races tonight at Happy Valley on the "C+3" course.

The weather has been fine in Hong Kong over the past week and it will be nice on Wednesday night, so punters should expect the going to be Good.

Joao Moreira rode 3 winners last Sunday to secure his leading position in the Jockeys’ rankings.

Whilst in the trainers premiership, John Size moved into second position after 3 winners from his stable saluted at Sha Tin. He's now just 5 winners behind Caspar Fownes.

The Joao and John partnership combine on only the one horse tonight, which is Savaquin in the last race. This horse has been improving and can hopefully score his first win in Hong Kong.

 

 

Happy Valley Race 3 Tip #7 My Ecstatic $2.80

My Ecstatic started his career in Hong Kong this season and is now more mature following three starts.

Last time out at this track, the gelding was impressive after showing good speed from the gates. He demonstrated this ability in his barrier trials and it was pleasing to see him transfer it to race day.

He finished second behind Colonel in that clash, only just beaten by a short margin in what was quite an eye-catching effort.

On Wednesday night, expect him to lead again from gate 6 and he will be hard to beat from there.

With Joao Moreira on board again, it's time for him to break his maiden.

 

Happy Valley Race Tip  5 #1 Nextmodel $9.00

Nextmodel is a fast horse with good and consistent gate speed.

His rating has dropped given recent failures to win in Class 3 grade, so he now lines-up tonight against Class 4 company. 

He was scratched from a race towards the end of December, however a recent barrier trial on 16 January suggested there a no problems with horse.

In that hit out, he went around without the hood but still managed cross the line first. It's therefore no surprise to see that connections have opted to keep that gear change in place for tonight's clash.

This horse will jump from gate 11, but he is fast enough to overcome the wide gate and has proved himself a winner from an outside draw in the past.

Christophe Soumillion will be on board and if he jumps well, he's a huge chance of winning at nice odds.
