Lays of the Day review

After nailing another two lays last Saturday, James Beeson picked up where he left off last year.

In 2019, Beeson was successfully potting horses left, right and centre.

In fact, he ended the year with 16 correct lays from 18 tips.

Coming into the new year, you'd be forgiven for thinking that his success rate would have to drop off.

But this proved far from the truth.

That's because the laying machine focused his poison arrow on another two short-priced favourites on Saturday, and they didn't even get close to winning!

To find out which horses they were, read on.

You can see which two false favourites Beeso has put a line through this week here, as he aims to make it 20 successful lays from his last 22 selections.

His first lay last Saturday was the $2.10 fav The Candy Man in Gold Coast Race 3.

Some would think Beeson mad for potting this Queensland fan favourite.

But with a huge weight on his back, a wide gate, and coming up against quality opposition, the Candy Man was well unders.

He drifted out to $3.20, before only managing a 6th-placed finish.

Beeson's second lay was Bumper Blast in Flemington Race 7.

After a soft win last start, it's no surprise that Bumper Blast started as the favourite in the Chester Manifold.

But Beeson identified that win was off the back of a favourable tempo against lower class opposition.

With a slower tempo expected here, Beeson wasn't keen.

And he was spot on. Bumper Blast didn't come on, and finished second last.

Producing the magic on Magic Millions Day

He'll Haunt Us, Invincibella and Vega One all got up after being crunched in the market. Even better was the fact they were all at odds of $4.00 or more.

Punters who backed all of the 8 market mover tips with an even stake using the odds at the time of publication pulled in a very tidy 86% POT.

If you missed out on the action last week, you can access all of the market mover selections for this week here.

Magic Millions tips from Rick Morris

Queensland form expert Rick Morris made his debut in theGreatTipOff.com writing stable last week, and he announced himself in style.

Morris had his ear close to the ground at the Gold Coast all week in the lead up to Magic Millions Day and used his local knowledge to steer punters into a big collect.

He singled out three horses as his best plays for the day and two of them greeted the judge.

What made this collect for punters even bigger was the fact that one of his two winners was marked as his best bet for the day.

Invincibella was eyeing off a three-peat in the $1 million Magic Millions Fillies and Mares clash on Saturday.

Despite having to lug 60kgs at the set weight conditions, Morris was all over the gutsy mare and she duly saluted at the very healthy $5.50 odds.

There's nothing like local knowledge and Morris proved this in spades on Saturday.

With a bumper card scheduled at Eagle Farm this Saturday, you can find out Rick's top selections including his best bet here.
