In 2015 the Magic Millions will be held at Gold Coast racecourse on Saturday, January 10. It is the richest race day of its kind in the world offering $4.7 million in prize money to horses that have graduated through the Magic Millions yearling sales, breeding stocks sales and ready to run sales at locations across Australia that include Gold Coast, Adelaide, Perth and Launceston.
Only the horses graduating from these sales have an opportunity to compete in the $2,000,000 Magic Millions Two-Year-Old-Classic and the $1,000,000 Gold Coast Magic Millions Three-Year-Old Guineas. The quality of the horses coming out of these sales has been proven to be strong producing eight of the ten Golden Slipper winners between 2005 and 2014.
In 2014 the late Nathan Berry rode Unencumbered at odds of $3.30 to win the Magic Millions two-year-old-classic over Oakleigh Girl by three-quarters of a length and a further two and a half lengths to third placed Ruby Soho in a time of 1:09.60. Gai Waterhouse's filly Sweet Idea won the Magic Millions three-year-old-classic leading from barrier to post beating Estonian Princess by one length with Enquare in third place three-quarters of a length away.
