Spring Specials

This week’s edition of Market Movers sees a number of runners heavily supported at both key venues of Moonee Valley and Randwick.

With Spring now officially underway, I suspect that many are preparing for loftier targets. However, a number of the below selections are very effective first-up.

The early money certainly looks warranted for a gun mare racing in the Group 3 Concorde Stakes at Randwick.

Moonee Valley

Moonee Valley Tips

Heir To The Throne

The Henry Dwyer stable have a high opinion of this horse, evidenced by multiple stakes grade appearances.

Last start showed that he is going as well as ever, when he raced midfield before chasing hard all the way to the line at Caulfield to finish 2 of 16.

This race appears no harder and he is every chance to go one better.

Kentucky Breeze

The Kavanagh family are known for pulling off a betting plunge and that looks the case again here.

The engagement of gun rider Jamie Kah also indicates they are here to win.

He enjoys Moonee Valley (3:1-0-1) where from gate 6, he'll race close to speed and is a big chance to chalk up back-to-back wins. Yes.

Haut Brion Her

Arrives from Sydney, where she has simply dominated everything they have entered in of late.

This run will get her acquainted with the Moonee Valley track, with stakes grade races at this venue on her Spring agenda.

Based on the strong Sydney form and shrewd stable placement, she should just blow them all away. Yes.

Horse Racing Tips

The Inevitable

Star Tasmanian galloper, who has already proven himself at Group level in Melbourne.

He was excellent first-up at Flemington when winning and I would only think he improves here second-up and over more ground (1200m).

Although drawn out a touch in gate 8, there is plenty of speed engaged and they should string out. This will allow him to find cover in the moving line.

Will be charging over the top late.

Randwick

Randwick Tips

Maddi Rocks

Featured in this column last week before she was scratched. The stable elected to wait for firmer footing, which she gets here.

In her first-up run, she got well back and had to come very wide. She battled on and managed to grab second placing.

Given a more economical run here and ridden closer from gate 3, I expect her to be very dynamic late.

Bowman in the saddle gives plenty of confidence and she should go very close.

Bleu Roche

Another one from Team Snowden, which is possibly the shrewdest yard in Sydney.

The moves in betting are often spot on with this stable and the mare must be showing plenty at home.

The first-up record says yes (2:1-1-0) and she was running around in stakes grade for most of last preparation.

Back to Benchmark 78 here should be much easier and the money looks warranted.

Sunlight

Is no doubt a gun sprinting mare with more desire than most.

She loves to race on-speed and dictate, and I expect her to challenge Nature Strip up front in this to possibly take up the running.

Given any cheap sectional mid-race, she will be very strong to the line and hard to run past.

Appears excellent value at the current $5 in betting and you can expect here to start shorter. Yes.

Horse Racing Tip

Eckstein

Won the off-season Winter Stakes last prep and almost always races at Group and Listed level.

She gets no weight here (54kg) and should hold a residual fitness edge after racing all throughout the Winter months.

The speed map has her midfield with cover, which is perfect with a fast run race likely to evolve.

Watch for a further move in betting late and bet with confidence if it comes.
