Scone hosts a competitive seven race card on Tuesday and punters have plenty to sink their teeth into.

The track is currently rated a Soft 5 and mostly fine weather is forecast for the NSW Hunter region.

The rail is out 6.5m from the 800m to the winning post and 5m for the remainder of the circuit, so expect backmarkers to get their chance late in the day.

From the stewards

The horse that stands out in the pre-steward's report here is Holy Sunday, who lines up in race 1.

The Holy Roman Emperor gelding is in a prime position to improve on his last start third at this track.

He was slow to begin in that clash, which immediately put him at a disadvantage from barrier 2.

As they entered the straight, he was inclined to lay in and he eventually flashed home late to finish 1.8-lengths third.

He was the only horse to make up ground in that hit-out, which suggests there was merit to his performance.

The runner-up, Niccirose, has since franked that form after dominating in a Highway race last Saturday.

Jockey to follow

Keegan Latham rides the Scone track better than most.

Over the past 12 months, Latham has had 26 mounts for 8 wins, at a 31% strike rate.

The gun hoop has 4 rides today, with his best chance coming in race 5 on Gold Codes.

I've identified 3-races on today's card that represent good betting opportunities.

Below is my best bet and quaddie numbers. For my full tip package and runner comments, click here.

Scone Race 6 Tip #5 Modernity $14.00 each-way

This Foxwedge mare looks set to recapture the form that she found earlier in her preparation.

Last start she sat a lot closer in the run than usual and looked a touch flat late.

There was excuses in the run however, with a riderless horse running alongside and pestering Greg Ryan for much of the race.

The winner of the race came out and won a Highway next start, which is a strong form-line.

Modernity steps back from the Benchmark 66 to a Class 2 for this assignment, whilst master Greg Ryan retains the ride in a good sign.

She comes here off a 4-week freshen up, which will suit well.

Dropping back to the 1300m is ideal and from barrier 10, she'll be ridden beyond mid-field.

There is plenty of pace drawn inside, which should ensure a strong tempo and allow this girl the chance to fly over the top late.
