How did our resident tipsters fare?

Lays of the Day review

James Beeson went back-to-back last Saturday, successfully bagging another two lays to make it four from four over the past fortnight.

With the form he's in, owners, trainers and jockeys will be sweating at the thought of their horse featuring in Beeson's Lays of the Day.

He's got two more in his sights for this week and you can find them here.

His first lay on Saturday was Sopressa in the first at Flemington.

Beeson noted that this favourite was well under the odds after the rave reviews she has been getting in the media.

Sopressa was facing not just a sharp jump in class, but also a rise in weight here.

She finished more than two lengths back in second.

Beeson's second lay was Black Magnum in Rosehill Race 8.

It was a similar story for Black Magnum, who was not only stepping up in grade but also carrying an elephant.

The galloper was unable to overcome the wide draw and was forced to sit three-wide the trip, resulting in him dropping right out of the race to finish a long last.

Best Bets for Saturday races review

Our resident tipsters were on the mark last Saturday.

However, two of our tipsters were cursing their luck after agonizingly close second-place finishes.

Find out the details below.

Free Racing Tip from Michael Gannon

Newcastle Race 2: #3 Sharapova

Gannon was confident this Sebring mare was ready to get back into the winner's circle after a solid performance in a BM70 race.

Sharapova was dropping back in grade and distance here.

She showed her superior class at this level, putting in a dominant front-running display to win at the good odds of $4.40.

Free Racing Tips from Ben Beare

Newcastle Race 3: #1 Adonis Victorious

Beare was on this horse after he ran a promising trial at Warwick Farm.

And when Beare says that a horse caught his eye in a trial performance, you sit up and take note.

However, this 20/1 shot ran an underwhelming race.

Newcastle Race 5: #3 Moon Panther

Beare tipped this 10/1 runner also off the back of some impressive trials.

And didn't he put in a run here, looking the winner inside the final furlong.

However, in a horror result, Moon Panther got nosed out by roughie Stylish Pattern.

Free Racing Tips from Matt Buckland

Flemington Race 6: #10 Assertive Approach

This was the second tip from our experts to go down by a nose in the photo.

Assertive Approach looked like he was going to make every post a winner.

But a late drive from the aptly named The Inevitable spoiled the party.

Flemington Race 7: #7 My Pendant

Buckland liked this gelding after a promising first-up run.

With Damien Oliver taking the ride, all the signs were right.

My Pendant got the job done in what was a popular result.

Early Market Movers Review

This is the article where we provide tips based on how the market reacts after the opening odds for Saturday racing are posted.

Our model has proven it's ability to detect those horses which the professional punters have come for early in the week.

There were two runners at Rosehill which the model identified, both of which paid around the $4 mark.

However, if you got on before race day, there was a nice profit coming your way.
