Punters keen to start Spring on a high

Punters have opened their wallets in early betting this week to back a number of runners perceived to be over the odds. The money looks spot on with all selections below putting forward an excellent case to dominate.

Last week we managed to find 3 winners at major venues in Sydney and Melbourne highlighted by the two longer priced specials in Za Zi Ba and Strike Force. Both winners were around the $8.00 mark. We hope to get you off to a great Spring with the selections below.

More Sundays

Regally bred for high profile owner John Singleton who does love a bet. He or those close to the stable appear to have unleashed on bookies here backing this runner for plenty in early betting.

He has only had the one run in Victoria and completely dominated when he led and gave nothing else a chance.

Money looks spot on and should get punters off to a great start. Yes.

Streets Of Avalon

Has a very strong SP profile featuring on numerous occasions in this column.  He has impressed at all recent outings, winning his last two and heavily backed at each.

Connections may be targeting some of the bigger Spring features in Sydney over the coming weeks, and this looks like a perfect assignment to test the waters.

Likes to ride the speed and kick away, and the money suggests he will do just that.

Table Mountain

Connections have secured Hugh Bowman to ride, which shows they are serious about this galloper's chances.

Ran a close 2 of 9 in the Highway when first-up which suggests he is primed for this.

Likely to race just off the leading group in a nice trailing position close to the rail. From there, Hugh can extricate this Snitzel gelding coming up the Randwick rise and power home over the top.

All Too Soon

David Payne is a master trainer over distance, and has this mare in great form for a tilt at this 2000m test.

The market has reacted early and suspect they have honed in on the slashing run last start over 1500m, where she was very strong through the line.

Will simply eat up the extra distance, and with any tempo at all, run right over the top late. Yes.

Lanciato

Has a massive X factor and could potentially be one of the stars this Spring.

Trainer Mark Newnham is on fire with a dominant strike rate and is rapidly building a reputation as one of the best horseman in town.

The New Zealand gelding ran a great race in good company last start against absolute top grade in Pierata and Kementari when only beaten 1.5 lengths. That form is pure for a race like this and he should feature in the finish. The money says he is up to it.

Caulfield Tips from early market moves

Caulfield tips from early betting

Arties Dreamwinner

Is likely to lead this field with ease and control it the entire trip.

Was extremely dynamic last start in an impressive win at Morphettville and does not strike an overly strong field in this.

This stable love a bet and have engaged JL Kah who is a gun hoop and will no doubt give the horse every possible chance. The money is on and can be easily justified.

Nights Watch

Was heavily backed as an emergency prior to the All In market last start at Mooney Valley where he missed out on gaining a run.

Punters are looking to get their money back here and have bet accordingly with one of the more vicious moves seen around the nation.

Have him classes above this grade and will be very dominant late. One of the best bets all day around the country and could start shorter.

Call Me Handsome

Loves to race close to speed and may be able to slot in one out and one back here.

He has showed plenty of ability this prep and can go right on with it here following the Mooney Valley win two starts back. The Craig Williams booking adds confidence and he should make no mistake from a luxury gate 5.

Punters have not let him slip under their guard early. Yes.

Voodoo Lad

DK Weir star who always puts in and races in good grade. He enjoys Caulfield (6:4-2-0) and the 1,100m trip (5:5-0-0) which holds him in great stead for this.

Will be back midfield or worse however given only an even tempo, certainly has the talent to run right over the top late. The class runner.
