Punters are active at the country's two most famous racecourses this week in Flemington and Randwick.

In Melbourne a talented stayer from the Maher/Eustace stable continues to attract support, and is likely to start favourite by the time they jump.

Whilst in Sydney, master trainer Chris Waller looks to have targeted a race from a long way out and has engaged his gun hoop to pull off the plan.

Lord Belvedere

Has attracted significant support early and could well start favourite for this, close to start time.

He was excellent here last start over 2540m, when charging from a long way back to collar them all.

The Maher/Eustace stable have a genuine passion for the staying types and look to have this horse flying.

Alcyone

Made good late ground over the 1420m here last start, when he got well back in the run and was set an almost impossible task.

He should relish the step-up in trip to 1600m for this, and if ridden slightly closer he can travel in an ideal striking position.

From an SP profile perspective, he was also well in the market last start at $6 and clearly has good ability.

Rich Charm

Loves the 1200m distance (16:7:3:1) and is a three time winner at Flemington.

He had genuine excuses last time out after being held up at a key stage and never really clear before finishing 9 of 11 here over 1100m.

The draw in gate 7 looks ideal, with most riders favouring the crown of the track in recent Flemington straight racing.

Plein Ciel

Slightly blessed at Moonee Valley last start, when he won well after receiving favours.

The speed map here again looks very suitable and from gate 8, he should travel midfield with cover. Off the expected fast tempo, look for him to be charging home late.

The stable don’t have many for the high profile ownership group (Australian Bloodstock) and will be keen to impress.

Bad Boy For Love

The jockey bookings are key in these Highway races and Kerrin McEvoy sticking here is a good lead in itself.

This gelding has been ultra consistent of late with good runs at each of his past four Highway events, including an impressive 2 of 10 at his latest.

This looks his best chance to finally break through in town.

Mr Dependable

Only just missed here at Randwick last start, when he finished 2 of 14 after leading and just nutted close to home.

He will be fitter for the tough on-speed run last start and 1800m now looks ideal.

Expect him to simply jump, lead and grind them all into the ground from out in front.

Desert Path

The powerful Waller/J Mac combination is on show here, with the rider likely to have had his choice of most of the field.

The horse arrives from Melbourne, where he has been building a strong foundation over the 1800m and 2400m journeys.

He must be ready now and would have been targeted at this race from a long way out. Yes.

Rari

Had support in betting last start at Rosehill, when he finished 5 of 9 however only 1.4 lengths off the winner.

He will strip much fitter for this second-up assignment and is unbeaten at his only try at this track and trip (1:1-0-0).

The strong riding style of Nash Rawiller should have him racing close to speed in the moving line.
