How did our resident tipsters fare?

Lays of the Day review

James Beeson did it again.

After a perfect two from two last week, Beeso once again saved punters heartache by steering them away from two false favourites.

If you'd like to see who he is putting a line through this week, read his Lays of the Day article here.

Here's how he went about his work last week.

His first lay was the $3.10 fav Can't Be Done in Caulfield Race 1.

Beeson was confident this gelding was well under the odds in what was a talent-rich 2YO race.

With the top weight to carry and an ugly speed map for this leader, Beeson was urging punters to look elsewhere.

Hopefully they did, because Can't Be Done couldn't get the win.

Beeson's second lay was Organza in Caulfield Race 5.

This selection was even more impressive, considering that when Beeson picked it, she was as short as $1.90.

He identified that the Godolphin factor meant that this mare was well unders.

With doubts over the quality of the Ipswich form, Beeson was confident.

And Organza was disappointing, finishing three lengths behind the winner.

Free racing tip from Michael Gannon

Rosehill Race 1:  #4 Belitsa (each way)

Gannon was confident this filly would run well dropping back to race against her own age.

This was after she ran a solid race against the older horses.

Belitsa was paying $2 for the place, and we hope you got on because she finished in 3rd place.

Rosehill Race 5: #3 Spiritual Pursuit

Plenty thought this short-priced favourite would win comfortably.

It was one of the biggest goes of the day, but unfortunately for all involved, ran a stinker.

She finished 8 lengths behind the winner.

Free Racing Tips from Ben Beare

Wyong Race 3: #4 Roman Candle

Beare identified that Roman Candle was screaming out for this step up in distance.

He just lacked the turn of foot to go with them, and finished fifth.

Rosehill Race 3: #2 Zardoro

(Scratched)

Free Racing Tips from Matt Buckland

Rosehill Race 1: #9 Spend

Matt Buckland got his followers off to the perfect start when Spend proved to be too good in the first.

He paid a decent $2.90 on SP in what was his first career start.

This colt is sure to have plenty of followers when he next goes around.

Rosehill Race 5: #3 Spiritual Pursuit

Buckland was also on the disappointing Spiritual Pursuit.

It all went wrong for this Snitzel filly on Saturday.

Rosehill Race 7: #3 New Tipperary (each way)

This gelding is a second-up specialist so it came as a surprise to many how flat he was.

While he finished less than three lengths back, he wasn't close to the placings.
