How Gator got on

David Gately's racing tip package for last Saturday included selections at the four major meets.

The charasmatic Melbourne local had a day out at Scone, backing four winners at the popular stand-alone NSW meeting.

But it was a different story with his two best bets, as he missed the mark with tips at Doomben in Morphettville.

Find out how he fared below.

David Gately's horse racing tips review at Scone 11 May 2019:

Race 1: 1. Military Zone

Gator's first tip at Scone was the favourite Military Zone, which got too far back and ran out of room in the straight to finish second behind Wild Planet.

Not a great start to the day.

Race 2: 5. Raqeeq

It all went wrong for Raqeeq, who had trouble in the run and finished a distant last.

Race 3: 1. Libertini

Gator hit back in race three, with short-priced favourite Libertini getting the job done.

If you had backed this runner at the time Gator had released his tips, you would have secured even money. For those punters who left things late, the value was snapped up as she jumped at $1.45.

Race 4: 1. Akasaki

Gator then made it two-on-the-trot in the fourth race, steering punters into $7 shot Akasaki.

Once again, if you got on early, all credit to you.

Gator tipped this runner at $12 early in the week.

Race 5: 3. Prophet's Thumb

This filly finished 3rd, in a race where the Waterhouse and Bott long shot Ready To Prophet got the win.

Race 6: 2. Trekking

Gately was back in the winner's circle in race 6, when race favourite Trekking saluted at $2.80.

This Godolphin horse proved himself to be the class runner in the race.

Race 7: 2. Siren's Fury

Gator went with a long shot here, but all it could manage was 9th place.

Race 8: 2. Viridine

Gately's racing tips at Scone ended on a high.

Viridine came in at $4.00, sending punters home with a smile.

David Gately's Best Bets

Doomben Race 6: 4. Czarson

Gately's first best bet ran a strong race, but unfortunately could only finish 3rd.

At just 1.3 lengths behind the winner, Czarson was far from disgraced.

And punters who backed the colt for a place would've cut their losses.

Morphettville Race 7: 1. Chapada

Gator's other best bet was okay in the Group 1 SA Derby.

He ran 4th, which is probably the worst result for punters who bet each way.

Qafila won the race in dominant fashion.
