Sandown Hillside Race 4 Tip #4 Just a Joke $27.00 each way

This son of noted staying sire High Chaparral steps up to the 2400m for the first time this prep, and has found a very winnable race.

His last two runs were at tight turning Moonee Valley and the switch back to the spacious Hillside track is a significant plus.

He wasn't able to muster enough speed at his last start failure, which resulted in him being ridden against his normal pattern.

Connections have now opted for gun front running jockey Linda Meech, which will give punters confidence that the gelding will be taken to the front to lead at all costs.

With the rail out 12m, the backmarkers will do it tough to make up ground. If Meech can carve out even sectionals, this galloper will be hard to run down.

He represents great value and should be backed each-way.

Warwick Farm Race 3 Tip #9 Twice as Special $5.00

This filly has her hoof right on the till.

She ran a good race first-up this prep, making good ground late but just finding the 1100m too short.

The winner Juan Diva has since franked the form by notching up another victory.

She made good ground again second-up and the two horses that finished behind her have both subsequently won their maidens.

She'll be rock hard fit for this assignment being fourth-up, she meets a moderate field and gets the services of a gun jockey.

Warwick Farm Race 2 Tip #8 Miss Canada $4.20

This two-year-old Kris Lees trained filly looks destined to break through for her maiden victory here.

She already has two second place finishes to her name, both of them coming in competitive fields.

On debut she ran into a tricky little race, where she raced keen throughout and lost by a head to Nitrous. That runner has since gone onto race well in competitive Group and Listed two-year-old races.

She was then put away for 8 weeks and won a trial in preparation for her first-up assignment.

In that hit-out, Andrew Gibbons elected to ride her cold and with cover to save her for one final sprint.

They intended to apply the same tactics first-up. However due to the wide gate and speed drawn inside, she was left to race three-wide no-cover the entire race off a fast tempo.

She loomed into the race as the winner, but unsurprisingly faded due to the tough run. The winner Doubtland beat her with a devastating turn of foot and he looks like a stakes quality horse.

Champion Jockey Hugh Bowman is on her back again and with the filly's race experience over the main few in the market, she represents value.

She draws perfectly in barrier one to sit behind the expected hot speed and with even luck, she should prove very hard to hold out.

Ascot Race 3 Tip #4 Imperialism $1.80

This gelding looks seriously hard to beat after a strong debut run two weeks ago, where he raced without a lead up trial and only inexperience cost him the win.

He jumped slowly from an awkward gate that day, but mustered quickly to push through and lead the field to the bend. However he then stargazed, before being hung out on cornering.

Melody's Secret took advantage of Imperialism's waywardness and made ground on his inside to claim line honours. In what was a positive sign for Imperialism however, he kicked back strongly after being headed to go down by only 0.5 length.

Melody's Secret franked that form by going on to win her following race.

Imperialism draws more favourably for this assignment, he gets the services of William Pike and will race forward on a likely leaders biased day.

All those factors combined with the added race-day experience and fitness from his debut, sees him very difficult to run down today.
