This year's field is brimming with high caliber gallopers from accross the ditch, who come here via their local NZ Derby.
In this year's event, the Aussies have genuine local fire-power in The Autumn Sun, who'll pose a stern challenge for the gun Kiwi raiders to overcome.
I have no knock on the raging race favourite, however from a price angle I believe he we will get close to black figures on the day. His rock bottom quote will almost certainly blow out if the track continues to deteriorate.
Instead, I have opted to bet on a Kiwi at odds who will appreciate the wet and has shown enough to suggest that he has the class to win.

Racing Market Movers
The Autumn Sun has attracted some support in early betting, firming from $1.60 to $1.55.
All other runners remain steady.

#1 The Autumn Sun $1.60 > $1.55
Has proven all the doubters wrong with two ultra impressive wins this time in against high quality opposition.
His win last start in the Randwick Guineas was out of this world and proved he is something special.
The step-up to 2000m now is perfect and he will have more than enough time to wind up and hit top gear.
There is a slight concern that rain-affected is not his best ground and you can expect a significant market drift late in betting if the track turns to slop.
He must go on top, however the current price ($1.55) can only get better as we approach jump.
If you are a "thrill seeker" and want to be on his back, wait to back him a few minutes out.
#2 Madison County $8.50
Kiwi raider who will certainly appreciate the wet conditions.
He showed enough last start in the Randwick Guineas to suggest he can turn the tables on The Autumn Sun here, with the step up to 2000m.
He has a similar race pattern to the favourite and will be well back in the run before storming home late.
The stable are known to pull off a betting sting and if the money comes hard and late, it would pay to follow.
#3 Crown Prosecutor $16
Comes straight to Sydney following an impressive victory in the NZ Derby, where he raced close to speed and fought hard to prevail over the concluding stages.
The on-pace profile is in his favour and a few of his more fancied rivals will have to ensure that they time their runs to get past him late.
Will give an excellent sight from out in front and could pinch it. Yes.

#4 Surely Sacred $12
Finished a close up 5 of 18 in the NZ Derby and can improve on that position here.
Whilst he is not the most favoured of the Kiwi brigade, he looks to have an electric turn of foot.
If the tempo is strong, he could be the one gobbling them up.
Just needs to handle the class rise against the top shelf runners here to be a serious contender.
Can surprise.
#6 Vernanme $16
Was midfield in the NZ Derby over 2400m, however prior to that he ran well over 1600m and 2000m which will suit well for this.
The step back in trip could be the key and whilst I have bet around him on this occasion, a good run would not surprise.
Place preferred.
#7 Arrogant $17
Looks a genuine staying prospect following a close up finish in the NZ Derby and just missing when second in the Waikato Guineas.
However, a number of these will be far too sharp and the higher quality Sydney field will find him out. No.
#9 Dealmaker $16
Has been racing well all preparation this time in and does have a class edge on most of these.
He was excellent over 1600m in the Group 1 Australian Guineas last start, when he charged back to the inside to work home nicely.
2000m is perfect and you can expect a huge run at odds here. The value runner at $16.
