Big betting moves for bumper race meet

A bumper card in both Sydney and Melbourne this week gives punters an excellent opportunity to capitalise on strong market leads in early betting.

Many runners will kick off their campaign in the hunt for big race Autumn riches as they reach peak fitness deeper in the prep.

This part of the season presents fit horses with a chance to capitalise in stakes level and these opportunities look particularly relevant in Melbourne.

Covert Ops

Ran an eye-catching second to Dubious in the Breeders Plate , which is a good form line for this race.

The recent trial was ultra impressive and he looks well above average.

Will have to burn early to get across the face, however if Brett Prebble can get to the front, he will be awfully hard to run down. Market support looks warranted.

Terminology

Was backed off the map and featured in this column when dominant winning on Magic Millions day in January.

That was restricted Maiden grade and this is a big leap to stakes level however I love the stable confidence shown to enter here.

Must be training down the house for Gai and Adrian and looks the winner. Yes.

Invincible Gem

Quality galloper who has competed at Group 1 level in 3 of his past 5 starts.

This is a drop way down in grade to Group 3 company and on class alone she will be prominent.

Looks to have significant speed map favours from gate 6 where she can tuck in behind the fast tempo and receive a great tow into it.

Shabau

Has been one of the strongest betting moves seen all year ( $3.10 into $1.85).

It appears the weights and measures followers have marked him a weighted certainty based on the 2.5kg drop from last start when he won with ease.

He will get well back in the running however looks to have lengths on these. Anything but a win would surprise.

Order Of Command

Had excuses last start at Flemington when finished 8 of 12 after racing tight and not fully let down.

He can atone here after the 5 week freshen and a nice draw (gate 10) on the right side of the Flemington straight.

Look for him to be coiled up midfield before rattling home to get up.

Microphone

This 2yo exhibits a strong SP profile, being well supported in betting at both career starts.

He must be showing Godolphin plenty at home to warrant the attention of pro punters who are often tipped by their stable contacts.

Gets the gun run from gate 1 and will be tucked in behind the speed before storming late. Get on.

Age Of Chivalry

Looks the likely leader and with a lack of speed to challenge, he could get away with a few cheap sectionals out in front.

The speed map gurus have not missed him in betting and no doubt they are expecting him to control the race from start to finish.

Rock hard fitness is also a massive tick with the two solid hit-outs already on the board this preparation.

The money looks spot on.

In Her Time

Will get back in the field before unleashing hell on her rivals over the final 50m.

This mare is all quality and if the Kris Lees yard have her right, she will be in the finish somewhere.

Slight concern she has drawn the wrong side of the track in gate 1 for straight racing at Flemington, however she certainly has the class to overcome. Yes.
