A good quality group of three-year-old's have assembled here for this year's edition of the Sandown Guineas, with the better performed horses coming via the Flemington carnival races.

Don't write off the horses who have been running in provincial and country grade however, as some of the perceived topliners are unproven over the 1600m.

I am with one from a gun stable, who arrives via Flemington stakes grade and did have excuses last time out.

Market Movers Racing Market Movers

The early market loves Pretty Brazen in this, who has been $6.00 into $4.40.

Conqueror has been slightly easy out to $9.00 from $8.00, whilst race favourite Affair To Remember has been rock solid at $3.40.

Horse Racing Key Runners

#1 Banquo $4.60

Won well at Flemington last start, when he raced close to speed before proving too strong.

The 1600m here is still an unknown, however he looked to be travelling through the line well last time and is now rock hard fit.

He is from the white hot Danny O'Brien stable and with a very high profile ownership group, we know the horse will be turned out well. Yes.

#2  Conqueror $8.00 > $9.00

Has only been a shade off the good three-year-old milers and I expect the last start Carbine Club form to hold up well here.

The son of Fastnet Rock is another raced by a powerful group of owners (Coolmore), and they'll demand a result here for the blue-blooded colt.

The early market drift is a slight concern, however from gate 2 expect him to get plenty of favours in the run.

#4 Heart Of Puissance $4.80

Comes via the weaker form-lines, although that is often the way with Maher/Eustace trained gallopers.

The horse has done everything right after winning both career starts and just needs to mix it with the big boys now.

Expect him to make the significant leap in grade for this. Top hope.

#5 Kavalmo $11

The owners are having a great Spring following Kolding's success, and there's no doubt that Waller would be giving this one his personal touch.

He was ok in the Carbine Club (5 of 10), where he had genuine excuses after being checked at a crucial stage.

Given a more uninterrupted run here, he can improve.

#9 Defend $12

Brained them all at Cranbourne last start, when he raced away to win by 10 lengths.

That was in much weaker Maiden grade and he now has to step-up to stakes city class.

I feel this race may have come around far too early and he should find a few of these too strong.

#10 Pretty Brazen $6.00 > $4.40

Had support to win at Flemington last start, before travelling wide and just losing touch when they sprinted.

I expect given a more economical run here, he could easily bounce back to winning form.

The stable are flying and the market loves him early. Could just blow them all away.

#11 Affair To Remember $3.40

Was excellent last start at Flemington, when he was smashed in betting late ($5 into $3.90).

He got a long way back on that occasion and stormed late to just miss behind a smart one in Nudge.

Just needs to hold form from the big performance last time out, to be be winning this. Very wary.

Of The Others

#3 Call Me Shamus was backed off the map at Moonee Valley last start, before winning with ease.

This is much harder, but the current $35 looks enticing enough to find out. Looks a star on the rise.
